Site questions

What is Plant Care Steps?+

Plant Care Steps is a US-focused library of simple growing guides. Each plant page gives a clear pot or bed plan, watering checks, and feeding notes drawn from Extension and manufacturer sources you can open.

How do I choose my first plant?+

Start with the space you already have—an outdoor pot, a garden bed, or a bright indoor corner. Use Choose your first plant or the Plant Finder to shortlist options, then open one guide and follow its starter plan.

Do the guides use US measurements?+

Yes. Guides use American English, inches, Fahrenheit, and US gallons. Named fertilizer rates refer to US product labels; a similar overseas package may differ.

Where does the advice come from?+

We prioritize Cooperative Extension and horticultural institution publications, plus manufacturer directions for named products. Editorial pot sizes and starter routines are practical recipes, not field-trial guarantees. See About for our review status.

Where are the calculators and tools?+

Growing tools live under /tools/, including raised-bed soil volume and links to light and watering helpers. Plant Finder at /find-plants/ shortlists plants from your setting and light.

Is there a German or other language edition?+

Yes. Localized editions exist for several languages; English remains the primary reviewed edition. Language links appear where a translation is available.
